Xbox 360 Elite Drops $100 Tomorrow, Other 360 News
News broke yesterday about the impending announcement of an Xbox 360 price cut, and early this morning Microsoft confirmed that $100 will be shaved off the Xbox 360 Elite, making its price $299.99.
Microsoft also confirmed a fifty dollar price cut for the 360 Pro -- Microsoft's best-selling Xbox. Production has already stopped on the Pro models, so the $249.99 price tag will only last as long as supplies do.
That leaves two Xbox 360s on shelves, probably until the Natal bundle or model comes out next year. Both Elite and Arcade systems have also had a packaging facelift, and in the case of the Elite 360 it no longer comes with a component cable. No worry, you can get cheap HDMI cables for your 360 by diligently checking Meritline, SlickDeals and Amazon.


In the same announcement, Microsoft addressed Twitter and Facebook functionality, saying that "Xbox Live Gold Membership will be required for Twitter and Facebook when they are available," but Microsoft later explained that their plans for Twitter and Facebook aren't yet finalized. After E3 I figured we'd get Twitter and Facebook on Xbox LIVE, but I'm more than happy with the Netflix update that came with the last Dashboard update. Besides, I don't want everybody to see how frequently I practice Avril Lavigne songs on Lips...
