The poor little Wii has been woefully behind the curve when it comes to streaming video. The Xbox 360 and PS3 have had several different options for watching Netflix movies and even Hulu vids, while so many people kept starting a new game of Wii Bowling in an effort to forget they couldn’t do anything else with the darn thing.

But all that changes today with the launch of PlayOn, by MediaMall. PlayOn is an app that allowed Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand and Hulu to stream to Xbox 360s and PS3s, and MediaMall has just launched the app they ported over to the Wii. This is a beta launch, so it’s not perfect yet, but it’s a good opportunity to put your Wii to work.

The pricing structure has stayed the same: $40 for the app, although there is a free 14-day trial if you want to see how the whole thing works first.
